Robert G. Pekham Consultant of the Year Award


At the 2024 Michigan Airport Conference, the Michigan Aeronautics Commission (MAC) and Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), Arconcepts was the recipient of the prestigious Consultant of the Year Award for the Hillsdale Airport Terminal design.

The award represents the achievements in promoting and improving aviation presented to airports, professionals, consultants, and others for development and/or design of a significant airport project enhancing community and economic benefit as well as promoting sustainability and environmental benefit for the future.

RS&H was contracted to lead the effort of a much-needed new Terminal and subsequently retained Arconcepts as the Architects and Designers for the Terminal building.

In March of 2016, Arconcepts was the recipient of the prestigious 17th Annual Delta Air Lines Supplier Diversity Star Award for which Delta Air Lines recognizes the contributions of its top Small-business, Minority-owned and Women-owned Supplier Partners. The Delta Star Award honors suppliers and Delta team members who champion supplier diversity.

Star Awards honorees are nominated and selected by a review committee based on several categories including quality, value creation, innovation, customer service, cost savings and community involvement. Arconcepts is proud to be the recipient of the 2016 Corporate Real Estate Business of the Year Award.

Arconcepts has provided architectural, engineering, and consulting services for Airport Authorities, Delta Air Lines, and numerous Concessionaires throughout the U.S. Project involvement includes Public Facilities/Services, AOA (Airfield Operations Area) modifications / improvements, Support Area improvements for the infrastructure of Delta Air Lines related operations, and various concession designs.
 
Detroit Public Schools Capital Improvement Program
– 2012 Redevelopment Award

During the Summer Improvement Program for 2011-2012, Arconcepts was the designer and architects for 161,000 square foot, 585-student Marcus Garvey African-Centered Academy and the Harambee Center Development Project.

Marcus Garvey Academy, which serves students in grades Pre-K to 8, designed as a high-performing, African-Centered Learning Environment that placed emphasis on cultural awareness, global learning and community service. The school featured $8.6 million in building upgrades and renovations of academic and community areas, including the newly constructed Harambee Center for Cultural Arts.
 
Delta Air Lines Arab American Heritage Celebration Event

In 2024, Shirley Ghannam was personally invited by Delta Air Lines Vice President of the Airport Operations, Mr. Hussein Berry, as an honored guest panelist in this prestigious event at DTW.
 
Wayne County Airport Authority (WCAA) new Hire Committee Appointee

In 2015 when the WCAA sought to hire a new Architect/Engineer to lead the organization’s Real Estate / Permitting Department, Shirley was asked to join the Selection Team. As the sole non-WCAA entity to sit on this Panel, the respect and confidence that Wayne County Airport Authority holds for Shirley became truly evident.
